I had the pleasure of receiving a copy of Alana's Bananas from Asmaa Hussein, owner of Ruqaya's Bookshelf. I was always a fan of her children's books because they were more than just a story, they always have a lesson. However, since my daughter is only 23 months, I wasn't sure if she would be able to catch on to the full meaning of the book.
Alana's Bananas is a story about a girl, Alana, that loves bananas a little too much.
I decided to sit down with my daughter and read Alana's Bananas to her. As soon as we started reading, my daughter insisted that she eat a banana while I read to her (that's a win!). It is a lot longer than most books she is used to and she absolutely LOVED that! She loves being read to so she liked that the story wasn't done so quickly and had a longer narrative.
The images are very vibrant and my daughter enjoyed pointing out different elements, such as "nananas" for bananas.
It has been a week since I received Alana's Bananas and my daughter makes sure I read it...
